The crystal clear water, the waves and the fine sand of the Bukit peninsula are highly appreciated by lovers of seaside pleasures such as surfers. The multitude of beaches there is astonishing: Padang Padang, Balingan or Pandawa Beach; no doubt one of them will make you happy. Budding surfer? Direction Seminyak Beach which brings together all the conditions necessary for a good initiation: weak current, small waves and absence of seabed. If you are in perpetual quest for originality, head to the north of the island and let yourself be surprised by the black sand beaches of Lovina or Amed. For a breathtaking panorama, plan an expedition to Nusa Penida and its photogenic Kelingking beach.

The north of the island has the particularity of having black sand. This is due to the volcanic activity that is active on the island of Bali. This heavenly place is also an ideal place to practice water sports and relax during the holidays. Seminyak Beach
Good for: Sandy beach, learn to surf, sailing, best beach clubs
Palm trees, festive atmosphere and sublime sunsets: welcome to Seminyak! If the beach is not the most authentic nor the least frequented on the island, it has the merit of bringing together various conditions favorable to the practice of beginner level surfing.
A sporting activity rich in sensations that will give you a great excuse to follow up with a massage or sit on the comfortable beanbags of the local bars. You are now ready to admire the show and the end-of-day entertainment.

Jimbaran Beach
Good for: Sandy beach
The favorite beach of romantics since it is possible to enjoy a candlelit dinner there, feet in the sand, comfortably seated a few meters from the waves. The curious can visit the kitchens of the restaurants to admire shellfish and giant fires.
This vast beach is located south of Bali airport. Unlike Seminyak, Jimbaran Bayest is much quieter. It is also a nice place to watch the sunset and eat local food.

This gorgeous white-sand beach offers stunning views, tranquil blue waters and a laid-back atmosphere that make it a great place to relax and have fun. The area is also home to some of the best seafood restaurants in Bali. It is therefore the ideal place to taste the local delicacies while admiring the landscape. Jimbaran Beach offers many activities such as surfing, kite flying, fishing and kayaking, and there is something for everyone. Whether you are looking for adventure or just want to enjoy the sun and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore, Jimbaran Beach is an ideal destination for your next vacation!
For fish and seafood lovers
It is also a beach that is sure to please fish and seafood lovers. Indeed, it is precisely in Jimbaran that local fishermen sell fresh products that they have caught in the morning. So, if you are looking for a romantic dinner with seafood, Jimbaran is the right place.
As for the water, don’t expect crystal clear waters. The southern beaches are much prettier for swimming.

Balangan Beach
Good for: Sandy beach, surf
Uncrowded, it almost looks like a secret beach with its cliffs and strips of white sand. No massive constructions on the horizon, only a few wooden bungalows. Prefer a visit at high tide for a better quality of swimming.
Balangan Beach is a beautiful white sand beach at the foot of the cliffs, covered at its edge with palm trees and green grass. The sand is white but not very fine and swimming is only possible on a small piece at the right end. The beach is dotted with a few surfer restaurants and deckchairs with umbrellas. Generally uncrowded, it is a beach that I highly recommend you visit.

The beach is located on the Bukit peninsula after Jimbaran but before the Ulu Watu temple.
You can easily get there by scooter or car. Just follow the map.
Padang Padang Beach
Good for: Sandy beach, surf
Padang Padang Beach, situated on Bali’s southwestern coast, is a tropical haven that enchants beachgoers with its captivating beauty and laid-back ambiance.
You access the beach by a few steps, passing some macaques. The creek is nice, the possibility of swimming too. Snacks and drinks on site.
In addition to being a world-famous surf spot, the beach owes part of its fame to the filming of a scene from the film “Eat, Pray, Love” starring Julia Roberts. In addition to the idyllic setting, it is the access to the beach that reinforces the charm of the place. The waters are in charge of digging a path in the middle of the rocks where some stairs facilitating the passage will lead you to the cove. Victim of its popularity, the place is very busy, it is advisable to go there on weekday mornings for more tranquility.
Good to know:
For a unique and unforgettable moment, try to go there early in the morning to watch the sunrise before it gets too crowded.

If we compare it to most beaches in Bali, we can say that Padang Padang is a small beach with an unparalleled charm. Despite its small size and there is a charge for access to this beach (about €1), Padang Padang is an exceptional place for lovers of heavenly beaches. This place also owes its notoriety to the filming which was carried out in 2010 for the film “Eat, Pray, Love” with Julia Roberts.
This idyllic cove, known for its world-class surf breaks and golden sands, has gained popularity as a must-visit destination for both surf enthusiasts and leisure seekers alike.
Accessed by a charming cave-like entrance, the beach opens up to reveal a breathtaking expanse of turquoise waters and towering cliffs. The reliable waves attract surfers from around the globe, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere. Beyond its surf appeal, Padang Padang Beach offers serene spots for relaxation, with sun-soaked lounging areas where visitors can unwind and soak up the coastal charm.
As the sun sets over the Indian Ocean, Padang Padang transforms into a picturesque scene, making it an ideal spot for a romantic evening stroll or simply taking in the beauty of the natural surroundings. Whether you’re looking to catch some waves, lounge in the sun, or marvel at the sunset, Padang Padang Beach is a Bali gem that promises an unforgettable coastal experience.

Uluwatu Beach
Good for: Sandy beach, surf
This part of the island of Bali is a real invitation to spirituality and meditation. Uluwatu beach, also located in the Bukit peninsula (where we find the most beautiful beaches in Bali, such as Green Bowl, Padang Padang, Bingin, Balangan, Jimbaran, and the best surf spots).
Located at the end of a rocky promontory, it overlooks the sea. For the Balinese, the evil spirits come from the sea, while the good ones come from the volcanoes in the center of the island. Maybe this temple is a way to keep the bad guys at bay…or taunt them!
Uluwatu Travel Guide: Must Visit Places Between Temples and Beaches in South Bali
Accessible at low tide only, you will have to take a narrow canyon to discover this natural pearl, hidden in a cave. Its fame is legendary among surfers due to the quality of its waves. The few bars in the heights invite you to admire the prowess of these athletes while sipping a Bintang (Indonesian beer).
Pandawa Beach, South of Bali
Good for: Sandy beach
This is another of the beaches in Bali that goes unnoticed by tourists.
The spectacle at the entrance is impressive since 5 imposing statues nestled in the rock welcome visitors. Once you arrive facing the ocean, walk a few minutes to your left to enjoy a peaceful corner. The white sand and the azure blue water will take care of making you spend a magical moment.

Pasir Putih Beach, in Candidasa, East Bali
Good for: Sandy beach
Pasir Putih Beach (also called Virgin Beach) is a beautiful beach that owes its name to the many wanderers who discovered it. Travelers who were struck by its stretch of pristine silky sand with a fabulous view of the small rocky islet of Gili Biaha far on the horizon gave it the name Virgin Beach.
In addition, those who were impressed by the unique combination of rocks stuck in white sand and calmer waves than on neighboring shores called it White Sand Beach. Getting to the secluded coast of Pasir Putih Beach is an adventure in itself. Mile-long dirt tracks, rocky terrain, and narrow passages lead you to the shore once your vehicle is safely parked in the parking lot above.
But, don’t let the difficulty of the trail put you off. The magnificence of this beach, which soothes the eyes, is well worth the effort it takes to reach it. When you get there, don’t miss out on a hike. It’s certainly difficult but it’s worth it. The beauty of this beach lies in its natural splendor.
How to get there? Go to Perasi village located on the main road Jalan Raya Candidasa-Bugbug and look for Pura Bale Agung temple. A dirt road on the other side of the sanctuary leads to the beach.

Lovina Beach, North of Bali
Good for: Sandy beach
Another black sand beach dotted with fishing boats, the scene of splendid sunsets. The coral reefs are particularly rich there and the dolphins numerous. To visit Lovina Beach is to choose an authentic destination where Balinese culture is still very present.
This beach is much less known than the previous ones and its black sand is very curious. In fact, these are lava remains from the Agung volcano. Unlike the southern beaches, there is much less swell. It is therefore perfect if you want to swim in peace. And it’s also a great place to see dolphins at dawn!
Kelingking Beach – Nusa Penida
